As a long-time resident, Town Council candidate and Chairwoman of the Westfield Recreation Commission, I’m proud to recognize the incredible work of our Recreation Department on the successful opening of the Westfield Memorial Pool for the 2025 season. This past weekend, despite the rain, residents came out to enjoy what is truly one of Westfield’s greatest amenities. Our sparkling pool, snack bar, the beautiful grounds and even our wonderful fish 'pond' make this gem an inviting place for residents to gather, meet friends, eat, play, and relax— resort-style—right here in town!

I'd like to take a moment to acknowledge the continued strength and resilience of the Westfield Memorial Pool. At a time when nearby towns are struggling to keep their municipal pools open, Westfield's pool has remained financially viable and available to our residents —even through the challenges of Covid—thanks to sound fiscal management, committed staff, and strong oversight from the Recreation Commission.

This season also welcomes several exciting upgrades that improve both safety and enjoyment for all members. These improvements include:

  • A brand-new splash pad feature adding fun and accessibility for our youngest swimmers
  • A new filtration system to keep our pool clean and more efficient
  • Upgrades to the lifeguard room, supporting the vital staff who keep us safe while retaining the nostalgic initials engraved on the lockers from previous staff
  • Concrete repairs to the upper deck near the handicap ramp and at the slide stairs, improving accessibility and safety
  • Refreshed retaining wall caps, giving the pool area a more polished and well-maintained look

These enhancements are a direct result of the hard work and diligence of our Recreation Department, the dedicated and knowledgeable pool staff, and the ongoing leadership of the Recreation Commission.

As a candidate, I’m committed to supporting smart investments in our public spaces that strengthen our community and preserve the quality of life Westfield residents value so deeply. I look forward to many more days of summer fun at the pool and hope to see you there!
